By Andrew Schmidt
My dearest one, I write you as I fly
Across the continent, toward the sun
That sets behind the Earth. In the sky
You are my star, the bright and only one.
I think of you in every state I cross,
Recalling how we parted with a kiss
And how you waved goodbye. I feel the loss
Of your warm presence and your gentle bliss.
But I also feel your love that fills my soul
With hope and joy, like flowers in the spring.
You are the blossom of my life, the whole
And perfect gift that makes my spirit sing.
You are my beauty, grace, and faithful wife.
I love you more than anything in life.
As I traverse the heavens, oh so high,
Your love, it guides me like the morning sun.
Through turbulent clouds or clear azure sky,
Our hearts, in celestial dance, are one.
The distance vast, yet you are ever near,
In every sunrise, in each twilight's glow.
Your love's the song that whispers in my ear,
A melody that in my heart does grow.
So fear not the miles that lay in between,
For love knows no bounds, no space, no time.
In every sunset's golden sheen,
I find your love, sublime and divine.
